This is the perfect option for a half day birdwatching tour in Phnom Penh and would prefer to head out birding and enjoy good views of several wetland birds, water birds and especially the Cambodia Tailorbird and flycatchers etc. Our trip will begin with a 6am and 2:30pm pick up from your hotel after which we will drive east to the wetland area of Mekong River. Here we will enjoy views of Black Drongo, Chinese Pond Heron, Zebra Dove, Indian Roller, Bee-Eater, White-breasted waterhen, Purple Swamphen, Pheasant-Tailed Jacana, Bronze winged jacana, Javan Pond-Heron, Common Snipe, Common Greenshank and a numerous of wetland birds.

All about the Phnom Penh Birding Experience.
This is the perfect option for a half day birding tour in Phnom Penh and would prefer to head out birding and enjoy good views of several wetland birds, water birds and especially the Cambodia Tailorbird and a numerous of flycatcher.
Our trip will begin with a 6am and 2:30pm pick up from your hotel after which we will drive east to the wetland area of Mekong River. Here we will enjoy views of Black Drongo, Chinese Pond Heron, Zebra Dove, Indian Roller, Bee-Eater, White-breasted waterhen, Purple Swamphen, Pheasant-Tailed Jacana, Bronze winged jacana, Javan Pond-Heron, Common Snipe, Common Greenshank and a numerous of wetland birds.
Then, we have a short and easy walk through the small forest with a short audio to see Cambodia Tailorbird. The Cambodian tailorbird is a species of bird endemic to Cambodia, likely confined to a single dense shrub habitat in the floodplain of the Mekong river. It was first discovered and recorded by scientists in 2009 in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, during avian influenza checks. During this time, we also view Rufescent Prinia, Scaly Breasted Munia, Little Green Bee Eater, Pied bushchat male and female, Pied Fantail and luckily the Purple Sunbird, Kingfisher and Large Billed Crow.
The tour is concluded with brunch and coffee or tea before we head back to Phnom Penh and end the trip at your hotel.

There is no matter that you didn’t bring your bins for birdwatching tour, we have such of equipment to entire this birding trip ending with enjoyable and bird encounters. We have binocular for individual, field scope, birding checklist, and birding guidebook.
Throughout this birding journey, we running a project on ” Bird Awareness to the children” with an objective to raise awareness on birds, wildlife and environment to children where it will contribute the sustainable development.
Therefore, we would happy to get some of your used gears for birding and wildlife such as: Binocular, GPS, Color for children painting, note book, refillable bottle, etc.

Don’t pass up this great birding experience! I had Excellent experience with Thong the owner. Took ferry and went to 3 sites seeing many new lifers for me including endemic Cambodian tailorbird and migratory Oriental pratincole with lots of young chicks we were able to get close to. He knows all the good spots-speaks good English, had yummy food too. I wish I had more time as he is available for multiple day trips as well. He truly enjoys his job making the whole experience that much more enjoyable!
Jeg var på denne fugletur d. 2.1.25 med guiden Thong. Det var en oplevelsesrig tur! Jeg blev hentet ved vores hotel af en smilende og imødekommende guide, Thong. I bilen gik snakken hurtigt om fugle og fugleopservationer. Thong var engageret og vidende, så jeg var hurtigt tryg ved at dette ville blive en god tur. Vi kørte først ud til et våd område, som vi ankom til ved solens første stråler. Stedet var dejligt langt væk fra veje og bebyggelse, og rummede masser af fugle. Thong var god til at hjælpe med navnene og forklare om fuglenes levevis. Igen var Thong meget engageret og gjorde oplevelsen spændende og personlig. Herefter kørte vi et kort stykke for at finde Cambodia Tailorbird, hvilket hurtigt lykkedes. Thong var fantastisk til at forberede mig til at få nogle gode billeder af arten. Det sidste stop på turen var et lille spændende skovområde, hvor vi fandt en del forskellige fugle. Thong var formidabel til at få øje på fuglene og til at fortælle om dem. Jeg var meget tilfreds med dagens observationer, og meget glad for at have mødt en dygtig og kompetent guide som Thong. Jeg kan på det varmeste anbefale andre at tage på tur med Thong. This is a superb excursion, a wonderful gearshift from sightseeing in the city. Thong is the perfect guide. He is courteous, English-fluent and extremely knowledgeable on birding. He may not share this detail, but he is also twice degreed in Law and a MBA — but is following his ornithological passion. The drive into the countryside, the ferry experience and walking in rice fields is worth the trip alone. Add to that everything Thong knows and shares with guests and this trip is a bargain. The lunch stop is a tourist-friendly, roadside restaurant with great options. Not hungry, I only had a latte, but it was delicious. Once you have booked, I recommend starting a WhatsApp chat with Thong, to finalize and confirm your itinerary. I was a bit confused about the meeting place and time, but of course Thong clarified everything within minutes.
